We are pleased to offer for your consideration this pristine Art Deco motif Hamilton Pocket Watch circa 1921. The Gentlemen’s Dress Pocket Watch of the day manufactured to the highest of standards. We have an excellent example with this wonderful configuration; Hamilton Grade 974 Lever Set Movement, beautiful Art Deco Dial, ornate Blued Steel Hands and housed in a custom Hamilton Triple Hinge 14K Yellow Gold Fill Case. The Gentlemen’s Dress Pocket Watch was a symbol of prestige and status and manufactured to the highest standards. The size 16 Dress Pocket Watch measures 2 inches in diameter and was an uncommon pocket watch from The Hamilton Watch Company. The Lever Set Grade 974 Movement had a total production of only 326,807 over 43 years between 1897 through 1940; a popular movement manufactured in relatively low numbers. This all-original Art Deco Hamilton Pocket Watch is truly a rare find in such fine condition. I hope the many pictures and extreme magnification helps tell the story of this truly fine Hamilton Dress Pocket Watch.

The Grade 974 Movement is housed in this rare Hamilton Triple Hinge Case. This is one of the first model pocket watches sold as factory cased and timed. Prior the jeweler or jobber of the day would match the case and movement to the customers needs and budget. This case is a Yellow Gold Fill and was designed to protect the movement. Hamilton beautifully embellished the inside of these custom cases with their logo. The front bezel opens out with a hinge at the bottom to access the lever to set the time. Then the two inside hinges actual folds out to access the movement. This fine case is in excellent condition without dings; dents or scratches one might expect to find from a 95 year old pocket watch. This fine Hamilton Pocket Watch is ready for daily wear or as an excellent addition to any collection.

This fine Hamilton Grade 974 Movement has 17 jewels and is lever set and stem wound. The fine movement has the ornate antique damasking and is in excellent condition without corrosion or reckless jewelers tool marks. A majority of the lever set 974 Movements would have been used a service pocket watches for light rails, interurban rails, trolleys or for export for use on the British and European Rails. Most would have had a white porcelain dial, not the dress dial we have here. The 974 Movement has a gold center wheel with gold jewel settings and is adjusted to 3 positions. We also have a steel escapement and a micro regulator with gold balance weights all designed for added accuracy. This Hamilton Grade 974 Pocket Watch has just been serviced and is an excellent timekeeper.

This Hamilton Art Deco Dial is beautiful with a textured design around the center chapter with the Hamilton Logo. Then we have the stylized Arabic numerals with the popular Railroad Track Design around the outer circumference. We also have a recessed sub chapter for the second hand. This fine dial is highlighted with the classic and original ornate Blued Steel Spade / Whip style hands. This 95 year old Hamilton Art Deco Pocket Watch shows beautifully and is sure to be appreciated for generations to come.

This is another excellent example of the late 19th early 20th Century ingenuity that made the American Pocket Watch a worldwide standard for accuracy and beauty in timekeeping.
