What does your complete service entail?
Every vintage and antique pocket watch we sell has been cleaned, oiled, and adjusted for accuracy. This means we have fully disassembled the watch, cleaned all parts in an ultrasonic bath, inspected each component for metal fatigue or damage, then reassembled and adjusted the movement for accuracy.
What kind of pocket watches do you sell?
We specialize in railroad and investment grade pocket watches manufactured by the American pocket watch companies. Every watch we sell has been cleaned, oiled, and adjusted for accuracy — ready to wear and appreciate upon arrival.
I've never had a pocket watch. Where do I start?
There are a few ways to start. One approach is to pick a manufacturer — Elgin, Waltham, Illinois, and Hamilton are all excellent pocket watch companies. The degree of craftsmanship that went into these fine pocket watches cannot be replicated today at any reasonable cost. Please be forewarned: pocket watch collecting can be habit-forming, if not addicting!
How accurate can I expect my pocket watch to be?
Pocket watch technology predates the "atomic clock" era of accurate timekeeping. Pocket watches are not as accurate as some modern watches. That said, many of today's most expensive perpetual movement wristwatches will not keep as accurate time as an antique pocket watch.
