Folks we are pleased to offer for your consideration this vintage Waltham Hunter Case Pocket Watch circa 1931. The Gentlemen’s Dress Pocket Watch of the day was a symbol of prestige and status and manufactured to the highest of standards. This is a size 12 and measures 1 ¾ inches in diameter and became popular as men transitioned to a smaller timepiece. This is still not a small pocket watch however at the turn of the century the larger pocket watch was considered more masculine and it took time to phase into the smaller pocket watches. These Hunter Case Pocket Watches are getting harder to locate in good condition, the gold and gold fill cases are a soft metal, and most have many have not survived. This 14k Gold Fill Hunter Case has a wonderful Sunburst design and a cartouche that has not yet been personally monogramed. This is a wonderful configuration with the 15 Jewel Movement, two-tone metal dial, ornate heat-treated Blued Steel Hands and housed in this beautiful 14K Gold Fill Hunter Case. I so hope the pictures with the extreme magnification help in the description of this fine Waltham Pocket Watch.

This Waltham is faced with a beautiful Art Deco motif dial. This ornate two-tone metal dial is in excellent condition and shows beautifully. These fine dials are ornately crafted, and this is a wonderful example. Around the outer circumference we have the popular “railroad track” design with the stylized raised gold Arabic numerals. Then we have an ornate etched center chapter, with an ornate sunken sub-chapter for the second hand. This fine dial is highlighted with the original heat-treated Blued Steel Hands in excellent condition. These hands are referred to as “open diamond crossbar hands” This classic Waltham Hunter Case Pocket Watch shows beautifully and is sure to be appreciated for generations to come.

This Waltham Movement is a 15 Jewel, Grade 220 and is stem wound and stem set. This movement is in excellent condition without reckless jeweler’s tool marks or corrosion. The movement is referred to as a 3/4 Plate Nickel Silver Movement. The movement has the desired antique damasking pattern with the lettering highlighted in black. We have a high-grade regulator, gold balance weights, flush gold cup setting, with a gold center wheel and escapement all designed for accuracy and dependability. The fine movement is housed in this original “Commander” 14K Gold Fill Case manufactured by the Illinois Watch Case Company. This stunning case with a “sunburst” design and the ornate cartouche still without a personal monogram. This fine Waltham Pocket Watch has just been serviced and is an excellent timekeeper as designed.

This is another excellent example of the late 19th early 20th Century ingenuity that made the American Pocket Watch a worldwide standard for beauty and accuracy in timekeeping.

This Antique Pocket Watch has been cleaned, oiled and adjusted for accuracy. This entails a complete disassembly and all parts cleaned and reassembled using the finest watch oil and gear grease.
