The Hamilton Grade 992 and the Cross Bar Case was the first pocket watch Hamilton offered and advertised as factory cased and timed in 1924. The Cross Bar Case is the most ornate of the Hamilton Cases and true to the Art Deco Motif of the day. Hamilton did not issue another model case for two years and few others were offered in a 14K Green Gold Fill. Prior to this offering the jeweler or jobber or the day would match the case and movement to meet the customer needs and budget. We have one of most desired configurations with the Grade 992 Model 1 Movement, the pristine Hamilton Double Sunk Dial, Wadsworth Green 14K GF Cross Bar Case highlighted with the heat treated Blued Steel Spade / Whip Railroad Hands.

The Hamilton Grade 992 and the Cross Bar Case was the first pocket watch Hamilton offered and advertised as factory cased and timed in 1924. The Hamilton 992 Movement has a production date of July 1924 and this early 14K Green Gold Fill Crossbar Case has the desired “Patent Pend” on the inside back cover. Hamilton contracted the case to the Wadsworth Case Company and this is the first generation. The Cross Bar Case is the most ornate of the Hamilton Cases and true to the Art Deco Motif of the day. This Hamilton Grade 992 is faced with a flawless Double Sunk Hamilton Railroad Dial. The Double Sunk Railroad Dial was the top of the line dial offered. This dial is made using 3 copper plates soldered together then baked with many layers of silica giving the dial that deep rich porcelain glass finish. The Hamilton Double Sunk Dial has the recessed center chapter for the Hamilton logo, then we have the raised outer chapter for the Hamilton stylized Arabic font numerals. Also on the raised around outer circumference we have each 5-minute maker highlighted in red Arabic numerals. Then we have a recessed sub chapter for the second hand. Truly the classic Hamilton Railroad Dial both beautiful and the height of functionality. This pristine dial is again without flaws and is highlighted with the original beautiful Blued Steel Spade / Whip Railroad Hands. This fine Hamilton Pocket Watch shows beautifully and is sure to be appreciated for generations to come.

This high grade Hamilton Grade 992 Movement is one of the most collected of all Railroad Pocket Watches. The 992 is a size 16 and measures two inches in diameter, the most popular of sizes. The total number of the Grade 992 produced was only 545,000 over 28 years from 1903 through 1930. This high-grade 992 Movement is lever set with the classic gold lettering and narrow pin stripe damasked nickel plate movement. This 992 is in pristine condition without reckless jewelers tool marks or corrosion. This Hamilton 992 Movement is lever set and stem wound with 21 fine Ruby Jewels and adjusted to 5 positions. The movement is also adjusted to heat and cold with a high-grade regulator, gold balance weights, raised gold jewel settings, gold center wheel and train with a steel escapement. One of the finest Railroad Pocket Watches manufactured. This fine Hamilton Pocket Watch has just been serviced and is an excellent timekeeper.
