Description

We are pleased to offer for your consideration this beautiful Hamilton Pocket Watch Railroad Grade 941 circa 1900. We have an early second year production run of this high grade Hunter Case Hamilton Pocket Watch. The Hamilton Watch Company named the different grades on an odd even basis. So the 940 would be the open face version and the 941 the same grade only in the Hunter Case configuration winding at the 3:00 position as opposed to the 12 position. The Grade 941 was made in a very limited production of only 26,700 in total. After the turn of the century the open face pocket watch became the “railroad standard” and far fewer Hunter Case Pocket Watches like this 941 were manufactured making for a highly desired timepiece. We have excellent example of the rare Hamilton 941 housed in this fine Coin Silver Hunter Case. This fine Hamilton Pocket Watch is a wonderful configuration with the highly desired Grade 941 Movement, pristine Railroad Dial, original Spade Whip Hands housed in this beautiful Dauber Coin Silver Case. The front cover opens with a push down on the crown to display the dial and the back has an inside dust cover that protects the movement and the back cover, so we have a triple hinge Coin Case in excellent condition. I so hope the many pictures and extreme magnification helps in the description.

This 941 has the beautiful antique damasking highlighted with gold lettering, a truly stunning movement and at 115 years of age. This fine Hamilton 941 is a size 18 and measures 2 ¼ inches in diameter. The full plate nickel silver movement has 21 fine Ruby Jewels with raised gold jewel settings, double roller, safety pinion a high grade micro regulator and gold balance weights. The fine dial has the Hamilton logo in the desired signed script with “Hamilton Watch Co.” spelled out, soon after changed to just “Hamilton”. This fine dial has a raised outer circumference with the bold Hamilton Arabic font numerals and every 5-minute marker highlighted in red around the outer the circumference. Then we have the recessed center chapter for the desired logo and a recessed sub chapter for the second hand. These ornate dials where made using 3 Copper Plates soldiered together, and then baked with many layers of Silica giving the dial the deep rich porcelain finish. The Hamilton 941 Movement is housed in a beautiful antique Dauber Coin Silver Hunter Case, highly desired. This case is in excellent condition and functions, as it should. These antique cases are referred to as triple hinge cases. We have the 2 outer covers (front and back) and then the dust cover to protect the movement. The case is beautifully crafted without personal engraving and showing only normal pocket wear, no abuse. These Hunter Cases are vey popular and many did not survive the last 75 – 125 years due to the Coin Silver, Gold or Gold Fill being so soft and the case springs are made of steel, the steel case springs that latch tend to wear through the softer metal, so we are pleased to have this fine offering for your consideration. This fine Hamilton 941 Pocket Watch is all original and ready for daily wear or as a cornerstone to any collection.
