Hamilton Grade 992B Railway Special, Model A Case, Early First Production Run

This stunning Hamilton Grade 992B Model 5 is an early first year production run, #3354 out of the 13,000 total in the first year of the Grade 992B in 1940. The legendary “Railroad Timekeeper of America,” Hamilton, went on to produce 685,500 copies of one of their finest designs in history.

The early production examples of the Grade 992B are considered to be of superior quality to the later copies that suffered cost cutting measures due mainly to increased costs, labor shortages, and material shortages during the height of World War II, when America went all in to defeat tyranny abroad.

This Grade 992B movement of superior quality is housed in an equally wonderful Hamilton/Wadsworth 10K gold filled Model A case. The case itself is a legendary product of the great watch company, and adds additional value and interest to this timepiece, making it one of the most sought after watches by collectors. The configuration is completed with a delightful Gothic dial featuring heavy in saturation highlighted with the blued steel hands you’ll only find on the early production runs. On later runs of the Grade 992B the blue steel hands were replaced by black steel hands, making this an essential feature for determining the era of production.

This is the perfect specimen for any collector trying to fill historical gaps in their collections, or for individuals looking for an exclusive horological experience for daily wear or display.
