Ball Waltham Pocket Watch – Rare 17J Railroad Grade “Official Railroad Standard”

The Ball Railroad Watch is justifiably famous as the timepiece that improved railway safety for millions of Americans. In fact, Webb C. Ball didn’t manufacture a single watch. He commissioned and rebranded pocket watches by America’s best watchmakers. All pieces were manufactured to Ball’s exacting standards for durability, reliability and accuracy. Then checked and regularly serviced by his agents.

Ball watches came in two basic grades: Official Standard Pocket Watch and Official Railroad Standard. The latter – approved for use by workers on America’s expanding transportation network – is easily identified by its interlinked RR shield at the top of the dial.

This Ball Waltham pocket watch is a coveted model 1899 from around 1905 – the Ball Watch’s heyday. It’s a 17 jewel working man’s masterpiece featuring Ball’s patented ornate enamel dial. The face is emblazoned with the elegantly legible Waltham-designed Arabic font – unique to Waltham’s Ball dials.

This Ball Waltham Official Railroad Standard pocket watch is for the discerning collector who wants to see, feel and hear the sound of history. Like all our pocket watches, its movement has been inspected, cleaned and oiled, making it a practical timepiece for daily wear and regular use.

This Antique Ball Waltham Pocket Watch is warranted for one full year from the date of purchase.
