The Western Clock Manufacturing Company made their first pocket watch in 1899 and continued to make affordable pocket watches through the 1970s. The Westclox Pocket Watches were originally sold for $1.00 and from the 40’s through the 1970s and more people were carrying Westclox’s than any other pocket watch. The later Wesclox Pocket Watches manufactured after the 1930s did not have a jewel movement and where riveted in place are and not designed for repair. The line of Westclox were advertised to be within 3 minutes a day and would hold a wind for 30 hours. Although these were not designed to be repaired or as accurate as a jeweled pocket watch, this was a significant innovation in its day, an affordable reliable mechanical pocket watch that most everyone could afford.
