Rare Dueber Hampden Pocket Watch Housed in Heavy Sterling Silver Case

The Hampden Watch Company/Dueber Watch company out of Canton, Ohio, was committed to producing high-grade pocket watches from 1877 to 1930. In 1891 they introduced the first 23 jewel, size 16 movement ever made in America.  This hefty size 18 Dueber Hampden pocket watch is housed in a heavy sterling silver case. The glow emanating from this watch is further enhanced by the wonderful tactical experience of holding it in your hand and feeling its warmth and the heartbeat of its mechanical movement ticking inside.  The case is a rare "swing out case," unlike most watch cases. To access the movement, one has to pull the crown up, and the movement will swing up and out of the case, still attached by the hinge. This design protected the movement from the elements and prevented accidental damage to the movement when opening the case. The movement, case, and dial are in excellent condition, with some minor craze lines on the dial. The dial features an eloquent antique script, and a railroad track design around its circumference, highlighted by gorgeous blued Breguet Moon Hands. This watch makes a beautiful addition to any collection. It shows wonderfully in both a display case or as an accent to any luxury wardrobe.
