B. W. Raymond was one of the founders of the Elgin Watch Company. In honor of the former Chicago mayor's contribution, the watchmaker sold pocket watches bearing his name. This picture-perfect 1925 B.W. Raymond pocket watch features a "heavy Gothic" dial: bold Arabic numerals and indices printed with heavy ink saturation. It's the ultimate realization of railroad watch legibility, ensuring the safety of America's railroads. A lever set 478 RR grade movement powers this B.W. Raymond – one of just 2000 made that year. The movement's business-like finish reflects the Elgin's seriousness of purpose. As does its accuracy, restored and tested to its original precision. This engraved case was extremely popular in its day – reflecting the romantic attachment to the railways, even as the automobile was changing the American landscape. A good example of its type, this B.W. Raymond is a functional, collectible family heirloom.  All our treasured timepieces are completely disassembled, expertly cleaned and oiled using the finest quality watch oil and gear grease, and adjusted for accuracy. Full one year warranty.
