This Illinois Sangamo was the scientific instrument of the day and manufactured to the highest of standards. This 23 Jewel Sangamo is a size 16 measuring 2 inches in diameter the most popular size pocket watch. This fine timepiece has wonderful hand engraving on the back cover; a knight and shield with a skull and crossbones on the shield and the personalized initials FCB. This is from the Knights of Pythias founded in 1864; the first fraternal organization to receive a charter under an act of the United States Congress. With the ideals of loyalty, honor, and friendship that are the center of the order. We have wonderful configuration with the 23 Jewel Sangamo Movement, desired antique Gothic double sunk dial, Wadsworth gold filled case and highlighted with spade/whip railroad hands. 

This is another excellent example of the late 19th early 20th Century ingenuity that made the American Pocket Watch a worldwide standard for accuracy and beauty in timekeeping.

Folks we have a truly fine offering for your consideration in this rare antique Illinois 23 Jewel Sangamo Pocket Watch circa 1907. This Illinois Sangamo was the scientific instrument of the day and manufactured to the highest of standards. This 23 Jewel Sangamo is a size 16 measuring 2 inches in diameter the most popular size pocket watch. This fine timepiece has wonderful hand engraving on the back cover; a knight and shield with a skull and crossbones on the shield and the personalized initials FCB. With the ideals of loyalty, honor, and friendship that are the center of the order. This Sangamo was manufactured from 1897 through 1913 with only 26,435 produced in total. This fine movement has the desired “Fish Scale” damasking pattern and highlighted with gold lettering. We have wonderful configuration with the 23 Jewel Sangamo Movement, desired antique Gothic double sunk dial, Wadsworth gold filled case and highlighted with spade/whip railroad hands. This Illinois Pocket Watch is faced with this sought after antique double sunk dial with the desired heavy Gothic font lettering and numerals, truly a rare find. This dial is made using 3 pieces of copper soldered together and then baked with many layers of Silica giving the dial that deep rich glass finish. The raised outer circumference has the rich Heavy Gothic bold Arabic numerals with every 5-minute maker highlighted in red. We also have a recessed center chapter with the desired Illinois Watch Co. heavy Gothic font. Then we have the recessed sub chapter for the second hand. This ornate dial was the top of the line dial when offered. This beautiful dial is highlighted with these spade/ whip railroad hands. This fine timepiece would make a wonderful addition to any collection or ready for daily wear.

This Sangamo is in pristine condition and keeping “railroad time” as designed. This fine Sangamo has 23 Ruby Jewels and is lever set and stem wound. Then we have a double roller, adjusted to 6 positions, Micrometric regulator, and gold balance weights, raised gold jewel cup settings with a gold center wheel and train all designed for extreme accuracy. This Sangamo Pocket Watch was truly the scientific instrument of the day. This high grade movement is housed in this custom engraved Wadsworth Case Company Case.
