The three Studebaker Brothers in South Bend, Indiana owned the Studebaker Automobile Company known for their innovative designed automobiles also owned the South Bend Watch Company. They applied the same innovative approach to their pocket watches and as with their automobiles and the South Bend Watch Co. have developed a large collector market for these fine timepieces. This high grade Studebaker was the South Bend Watch Company top of the line offering in the Gentlemen’s Dress Pocket Watch of the Day, higher specification than Railroad Standards. The dress pocket watch of the day was a size 12 and measured 1¾ inch in diameter. This South Bend Studebaker Movement is housed is this beautiful White Gold Fill Emperor Case. This all-original South Bend is designed in the Art Deco Motif and faced with a Pin Stripe Dress Dial and highlighted with beautifully Blued Steel Hands.

This is another excellent example of the late 19th early 20th Century ingenuity that made the American Pocket Watch a worldwide standard for accuracy and beauty in timekeeping.

The Studebaker is one of the highest grade movements the South Bend Watch Company manufactured. This fine movement is stem wound and stem set and in excellent condition without reckless jewelers tool marks or corrosion. This movement was manufactured to higher standards than the Railroad Grade Pocket Watches of the day. The Studebaker has 21 Jewels, adjusted to 8 positions, adjusted to temperature, adjusted to Isochronism, gold center wheel and train, safety pinion, double roller, high-grade micro regulator, gold balance weights with raised gold jewel settings. This fine movement is finished with the Tuxedo Stripe damasking pattern and is again in excellent condition. This South Bend Studebaker has just been serviced is an excellent timekeeper and sure to be appreciated for generations to come.

This South Bend Dial is designed in the Art Deco Motif with a gold metal single sunk dial with the popular Pin Stripe design. We have the South Bend stylized Arabic numerals around the outer circumference, then a recessed sub register for the second hand. The dial is in excellent condition with Studebaker printed in the center, named after their most popular model automobiles. This fine dial is highlighted with beautifully Blued Steel Hands in the Spade / Whip configuration with the matching Second Hand. This all original South Bend is in excellent condition and would make a wonderful addition to any collection or ready for daily wear.
