Folks we have a very special offering for your consideration in this all-original Hamilton Pocket Watch Railroad Grade 992 circa 1924. This Grade 992 Movement is housed in this rare and beautiful 14K White Gold Fill Cross Bar Case. The Grade 992 in this Cross Bar Case with this dial was the first pocket watch the Hamilton Watch Company offered and advertised as “factory cased and timed” in 1924. The Hamilton Watch Co. records have this being first seen in November 1924 and this serial number shows this movement having left the finishing department in November 1924, so we have one of the first of the Hamilton “factory cased and timed” offerings. The Wadsworth Case Company Case 14K White Gold Fill Crossbar Case has the early and desired “Patent Pend” on the inside back cover. The Hamilton Watch Co. contracted this case from the Wadsworth Case Company and this is the first generation. Hamilton did not issue another model case for two years no others were as ornate as their first offering that we have here. Prior to this offering the jeweler or jobber or the day would match the case, dial and movement to meet the customer needs and budget. We have one of most desired configurations with the Grade 992 Model 2 Movement, the pristine Hamilton Double Sunk Dial first seen with this Wadsworth White 14K GF Cross Bar Case highlighted with the heat treated Blued Steel Spade/Whip Railroad Hands. I so hope the pictures and magnification help tell the story of this truly exceptional Hamilton Pocket Watch.

This Hamilton Grade 992 is faced with a flawless Double Sunk Railroad Dial. The fine dial was introduced in 1924 with the Cross Bar Case. This Double Sunk Railroad Dial was the top of the line dial when offered. This dial is made using 3 copper plates soldered together then baked with many layers of silica giving the dial that deep rich porcelain glass finish. The Hamilton Double Sunk Dial has the recessed center chapter for the Hamilton logo, then we have the raised outer chapter with the unique Hamilton stylized Arabic font numerals, with a recessed sub chapter for the second hand. Truly the classic Hamilton Railroad Dial both beautiful and the height of functionality. This pristine dial is again without flaws and is highlighted with the original beautifully Blued Steel Spade/Whip Railroad Hands. This fine Hamilton Pocket Watch shows beautifully and is sure to be appreciated for generations to come.

This high grade Hamilton Grade 992 Movement is one of the most collected of all Railroad Pocket Watches. The 992 is a size 16 and measures two inches in diameter, the most popular of sizes. The total number of the Grade 992 produced was only 545,000 over 28 years from 1903 through 1930. This high-grade 992 Movement is lever set with the classic gold lettering and narrow pin stripe damasked nickel plate movement. This 992 is in pristine condition without reckless jewelers tool marks or corrosion. This Hamilton 992 Movement is lever set and stem wound with 21 fine Ruby Jewels and adjusted to 5 positions. The movement is also adjusted to heat and cold with a high-grade regulator, gold balance weights, raised gold jewel settings, gold center wheel and train with a steel escapement.
