Folks we have a very special offering for your consideration in this all-original Hamilton Pocket Watch Railroad Grade 992 circa 1925. This Hamilton Grade 992 is housed in the rare first model Cross Bar Case in the elusive 14K Green Gold Fill. The Hamilton Grade 992 and this Cross Bar Case was the first pocket watch the Hamilton Watch Company offered and advertised as “factory cased and timed” in 1924. This Hamilton 992 Movement has a production date of Sept.1925 and this early 14K Green Gold Fill Cross Bar Case has the desired “Patent Pend” on the inside back cover. Hamilton contracted this case from the Wadsworth Case Company; know for the finest of cases. The Cross Bar Case is the most ornate of the Hamilton/Wadsworth Cases and true to the Art Deco Motif of the day. Hamilton did not issue another model case for two years and few others were offered in a 14K Green Gold Fill. Prior to this offering the jeweler or jobber or the day would match the case, dial and movement to meet the customer needs and budget. We have one of most desired configurations with the Grade 992 Model 2 Movement, the pristine Hamilton Double Sunk Dial, Hamilton/Wadsworth 14K Green Gold Fill Cross Bar Case highlighted with the heat treated blued steel Spade/Whip Railroad Hands. I so hope the pictures and magnification help tell the story of this truly exceptional Hamilton Pocket Watch.

The Hamilton Grade 992 Movement is faced with a pristine Double Sunk Hamilton Railroad Dial. This model Double Sunk Railroad Dial was first seen when introduced with the Cross Bar Case circa 1924. The porcelain double sunk dial was the top of the line dial offered. This dial is made using 3 copper plates soldered together then baked with many layers of silica giving the dial that deep rich porcelain glass finish. The Hamilton Double Sunk Dial has the recessed center chapter for the Hamilton logo, and then we have the raised outer circumference for the stylized Hamilton Arabic font numerals, with a recessed sub chapter for the second hand. Truly the classic Hamilton Railroad Dial both beautiful and the height of functionality. This pristine dial is highlighted with the original beautiful blued steel Spade/Whip Railroad Hands. This fine Hamilton Pocket Watch shows beautifully and is sure to be appreciated for generations to come.

This high grade Hamilton Grade 992 Movement is one of the most collected of all Railroad Pocket Watches. The 992 is a size 16 and measures two inches in diameter, the most popular of sizes. The total number of the Grade 992 produced was only 545,000 over 28 years from 1903 through 1930. This high-grade 992 Movement is lever set with the classic gold lettering and narrow pin stripe damasked nickel plate movement. This 992 is in pristine condition without reckless jewelers tool marks or corrosion. This Hamilton 992 Movement is lever set and stem wound with 21 fine Ruby Jewels and adjusted to 5 positions. The movement is also adjusted to heat and cold with a high-grade regulator, gold balance weights, screw gold jewel settings, gold center wheel and train with a steel escapement. One of the finest and most collected of Railroad Pocket Watches manufactured. This fine Hamilton Pocket Watch has just been serviced and is an excellent timekeeper.

This is another excellent example of the late 19th early 20th Century ingenuity that made the American Pocket Watch a worldwide standard for accuracy and beauty in timekeeping.
