This high-grade 992B Movement is housed in a rare clear back salesman display or skeleton case, a Wadsworth Model 2 Bar Over Crown Railroad (BOC) Case. An excellent example of the most desired configuration with this pristine Hamilton Railway Special Boxcar Dial, Rose GF BOC Display Case, 992B Lever Set Movement highlighted by pristine Blued Steel Spade / Whip Railroad Hands. This Hamilton 992B Movement is again housed in a rare Wadsworth 14K Rose GF BOC Model 2 Railroad Display Case. These rare clear back display cases are a favorite with collectors to display the fine Hamilton Movement and this is an excellent example. The Wadsworth Model 2 BOC Case was first seen advertised in 1926 as “factory cased and timed” by The Hamilton Watch Company. The Wadsworth Model 2 Bar Over Crown Case was deigned by Hamilton and the Wadsworth Case Company; the bar over crown design was to avoid accidentally pulling up the crown to set and possibly damaging the movement.

This Hamilton 992B is faced with a pristine Double Sunk Railway Special Hamilton Dial; this is one of the most popular of railroad dials. This Hamilton double sunk dial has the recessed sunken center chapter for the Hamilton logo, and then we have the raised outer chapter for the classic Hamilton Boxcar style Arabic font numerals. Then we have a recessed sub chapter for the second hand. This Hamilton Railway Special is again one of the most desired and collected of all railroad dials, both beautiful and the height of functionality. This dial is actually made using 3 pieces of metal soldiered together then baked with many layers of silica giving the dial that rich porcelain glass finish. This pristine dial is again without flaws and has the original beautiful Blued Steel Spade / Whip Railroad Hands in very good condition. The Wadsworth Case Company was know for the finest in Railroad Grade Cases and this is an excellent example. This fine Hamilton Pocket Watch shows beautifully and will be appreciated for generations to come.

The Hamilton Pocket Watch Grade 992B is one of the most popular and collected of all Railroad Pocket Watches, a size 16 that measures 2 inches in diameter the most popular of sizes. The Hamilton Grade 992B is lever set and stem wound. The movement has 21 fine Ruby Jewels, adjusted to 5 positions, double roller and also adjusted to heat and cold. This highest of grade pocket watches also has a high-grade micro regulator, gold balance weights, gold raised and flush jewel settings, gold center wheel and train with a steel escapement. This highest of grade pocket watches kept The Hamilton Watch Company in the lead as the finest of pocket watch manufactures and in the early 1940s supplied the U.S. Governments war efforts with the 992B.

This is an example of ingenuity that made the late 19th early 20th century American Pocket Watch a worldwide standard for accuracy and beauty in timekeeping.
