We are pleased to offer for your consideration this antique Illinois Bunn Special Pocket Watch circa 1903. This Illinois Bunn Special was the top of the line Railroad Pocket Watch of the day and manufactured to the highest of standards. This 21 Jewel Bunn Special is a size 18 measuring 2 ¼ inches in diameter; the classic Lever Set Railroad Grade Pocket Watch of the day. This Grade Bunn was manufactured from 1893 through 1923, a very popular high-grade movement. This Illinois Bunn Special is referred to as a full plate movement and is in pristine condition without reckless jewelers tool marks or corrosion. This fine movement has the desired “Fish Scale” damasking pattern and highlighted with black Enamel lettering. This fine Bunn is faced with this Double Sunk Porcelain Dial highlighted with the rare and highly desired Heavy Gothic motif font. This Bunn Special is housed in this fine Philadelphia Case Company Case. This 114 year old Bunn Special is again in excellent condition. I hope the many the pictures and magnification helps in the description of this truly fine Illinois Pocket Watch.

This Illinois Pocket Watch is faced with a top of the line Double Sunk Dial, truly a rare find. The Illinois logo is in the desired and now rare Heavy Gothic motif. The Heavy Goth motif was very popular at the turn of the century. This dial is made using 3 pieces of copper soldered together and then baked with many layers of Silica giving the dial that deep rich glass finish. The raised outer circumference has the rich Heavy Gothic bold Arabic numerals with every 5-minute maker highlighted in red around the outer circumference. Then we have a recessed center chapter with the Illinois Watch Co. in the most desired Heavy Gothic motif. Then we have the recessed sub chapter for the second hand. This ornate dial was again the top of the line dial when offered. The dial does have some minor crazing seen in the images, nothing major. This beautiful dial is highlighted with the custom and ornate “Crescent” Blued Steel Hands in pristine condition. This timepiece shows beautifully and is sure to be appreciated for generations to come.

This pristine Bunn Special Movement is in pristine condition and keeping “railroad time” as designed. This fine Bunn has 21 fine Ruby Jewels and is Lever Set and Stem Wound. Then we have a Double Roller, Reed Regulator, high-grade Micrometer Regulator, and Gold Balance Weights, raised Gold Jewel Cup Settings with a Gold Center Wheel and Train all designed for extreme accuracy. This was truly the scientific instrument of the day. This high grade movement is housed in this desired Philadelphia Case Company Case. This case shows less than normal wear for a 113 year old pocket watch. The case has a few pressure dimples, nothing significant but I have to mention. The case is in excellent operating condition. This classic Illinois Pocket Watch has just been serviced and would be an excellent addition to any collection and ready for daily wear.

This is another excellent example of the late 19th early 20th Century ingenuity that made the American Pocket Watch a worldwide standard for beauty and accuracy in timekeeping.
