This extra fine Elgin Grade 455 Railroad Pocket Watch has the classic configuration with this Double Sunk Railroad Dial, Blued Steel Spade / Whip Hands and this fine Yellow Gold Fill Railroad Case.

Folks for your consideration we are offering this fine antique Elgin Pocket Watch Model B.W. Raymond Grade 455 circa 1921. This extra fine high grade B.W. Raymond has a 19 Jewel Lever Set Movement. This Grade 455 is a size 16 measuring 2 inches in diameter the most popular size pocket watch manufactured. This is a wonderful example of Elgin’s commitment to making a top of the line Railroad Pocket Watch. This model B.W. Raymond was manufactured from 1918 – 1922 with a total production of only 64,000 in 52 production runs a relative low number for such a fine movement, keeping this model in demand. This model B.W. Raymond was a mainstay in the Elgin National Watch Companies line up of fine Railroad Grade Pocket Watches. This extra fine Elgin Grade 455 Railroad Pocket Watch has the classic configuration with this Double Sunk Railroad Dial, Blued Steel Spade / Whip Hands and this fine Yellow Gold Fill Railroad Case. I so hope the extensive pictures and extreme magnification help tell the story of this truly fine Elgin Pocket Watch.

This Elgin Pocket Watch Grade 455 Movement circa 1921 is in excellent condition without reckless jewelers tool marks or corrosion. This fine Elgin Movement is beautifully crafted with the classic antique damasking and gold lettering on the ¾ plate nickel silver movement. This fine 19-jewel movement is adjusted to 5 positions and is also adjusted to heat and cold. Then we have a high-grade micro regulator, gold balance weights, raised and flush gold jewel settings, gold center wheel, lever set and stem wound with a steel escapement. This fine Grade 455 Movement has just been serviced and is an extremely accurate timekeeper as it was designed to be.

This Elgin Grade 455 Movement is faced with the classic double sunk Elgin Railroad Dial. This double sunk dial has the recessed center chapter for the Elgin logo and then we have the raised outer circumference for the custom Elgin Arabic font numerals. Then we have a recessed sub chapter for the second hand, beautiful and the height of functionality. This dial is actually made using 3 pieces of metal soldered together then baked with many layers of silica giving the dial that rich porcelain glass finish. This dial is in very good condition with only minor crazing and magnification needed to see. This fine dial is highlighted with the original beautiful Blued Steel Spade / Whip Railroad Hands. This fine Elgin B.W. Raymond is all original and housed is a classic Yellow Gold Fill Ramona Railroad Case in excellent condition without dings or dents one might expect to find. This fine Elgin Pocket Watch shows beautifully and is sure to be appreciated for generations to come.
