Sold Classic Hamilton Railroad Pocket Watch Model 992B “Railway Special Dial” BOC Case circa 1942

We are offering for sale a beautiful high grade Hamilton Railroad Pocket Watch. This fine timepiece is highlighted with the highly collected “Hamilton Railway Special” Dial, one of the most sought after dials. This is a size 16, Model 992B the cream of the crop . This most collected of all moments was 1′st manufactured in 1940 and is housed in one the most popular “Model 2″ Railroad Cases. This Hamilton is all original the dial, hands ,case, movement are all original to this piece.

The movement has 21 jewels, adjusted to 6 positions, double roller, and adjusted to heat cold. This also has a high-grade regulator, solid gold balance weights, solid gold jewel settings, gold center wheel and train and steel escapement. This is one of the finest and most collected of all  Railroad Pocket Watches ever manufactured. This early 992B Movement and “Railway Special” Dial  just adds to the the value from a collectors perspective.

This is a Hamilton “Factory Advertised” timepiece first seen advertised in 1926. This “Bar Over Crown Case” (BOC) is the most desired of all railroad grade cases. This was one of the most classic Railroad Pocket Watches ever manufactured. The dial is marked “Hamilton Railway Special” and is one of the most collected of all Railroad Dials. The dial is a “Boxcar” double sunk dial with a sunken “sub-register” for the second hand. This “Boxcar” dial is beautiful and one of the most popular and now a very hard to find of dials. This “Boxcar” dial is a rare find with the “Railway Special”. This size 16 measures two inches in diameter and was the most popular size pocket watches manufactured.

This “Hamilton Railway Special” Pocket Watch was the most popular pocket watches with railroad companies; know as “Americas Timekeeper”. The BOC cases were popular for its functionality, not being able to pull the  crown to set the time (instead of the “lever”) and possibly damaging the timepiece. The bold simple script of the “Boxcar” also was desired for its functionality. The 992B Movement is also one of the the most desired and collected first manufactured in 1940. We have one of the most classic combinations Hamilton offered with this movement, dial, hands and case.
